‘If you can’t be good, be good at it’
This is something my dad use to say to me when I lived at home. He would say it whenever I was going out with my friends. He was quite the bad boy when he was younger and assumed I was the same way. It always made me laugh.
When trying to consider what kind of aesthetic I wanted to work with for this phrase, the obvious came to mind: liberation, loud, guns, photo of a hot chick with red lipstick, drugs, sex, etc. Then, I realized none of these things is what my dad meant when he said it. Not directly anyway. So the way I began to build upon this was to take the ‘nothing is wrong until you get caught’ route. High class badass.
